Xiao Liu Ren vs I Ching

Both belong to Chinese divination culture, but they are not interchangeable. Xiao Liu Ren uses six repeating palaces and compact time-based counting; the I Ching centers on sixty-four hexagrams and a different philosophical and textual tradition.

Different structures

Six palaces create a short repeating cycle. Sixty-four hexagrams create a much larger symbolic field.

Different learning curves

Xiao Liu Ren can be introduced quickly, while serious I Ching study usually involves a broader textual tradition.
